Grand Hustle’s Alphamega A Former Snitch

According to the Smoking Gun, Grand Hustle rap artist Alphamega has a past life as a government informant who snitched on criminal cohorts to lesser a 1995 sentence from 110 months.
To his credit, Alphamega, whose government name is Cedric Zellars, is a convicted felon who faced weapons and robbery charges, among other things. He was ultimately found out when he attempted to sell weapons to an undercover agent before “agreeing to cooperate with authorities.”
It doesn’t bode well for his future as a rapper and/or Grand Hustle artist, as the label’s impresario, T.I., was convicted of a similar charge and will start his sentence sometime this summer. With examples like Rick Ross, who is an admitted Corrections Officer who now raps about the life of a drug kingpin and now Zellars, who narrates similar tales of gangsterdom, it would be hard pressed for hip hop to forgive and forget. Moreover, Grand Hustle is just now adjusting to the idea that their unadulterated leader will be absent for an entire year.
