ESPN is reporting that Lebron James will be named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA this afternoon. James will accept the award in his hometown of Akron, Ohio – 30 minutes outside of Cleveland – and his entire team will travel to James’ high school to watch him accept the award.

James and his Cleveland Cavaliers are slated to begin a second round series with the Atlanta Hawks tomorrow evening in Cleveland.

A frontrunner for the award all season long, the All-Star forward averaged over 28 points, 7 assists and 7 rebounds this year while shooting over 48 percent from the field.
