Lil Wayne & Birdman Sued For Infringement

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Nov.02, 2009, under KS NEWS

lil-wayne-birdmanIf the Birdman/Lil Wayne collaboration, Like Father Like Son, seemed like a bad idea in 2006, recent allegations tied to the project likely have worsened the idea of the collaboration all over again.

As of Friday, October 30, 2009, Thomas Marasciullo, filed a lawsuit claiming the father/son duo stole vocal arrangements from him, according to the Associated Press.

The suit identifies both rappers, their label and an assortment of distribution companies.

Marasciullo, a Florida man, was hired to provide “Italian styled spoken word,” vocals on a variety of tracks, but was never compensated on either Like Father Like Son or Baby’s 5 (Star) Stunna.

A total of nine tracks were apparently used, per the lawsuit, and Marisciullo is said to be seeking unspecified damages.

UPDATE: Lil Wayne Pleads Guilty, Gets 1 Year

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.22, 2009, under KS NEWS

He walked into the courthouse in a hooded parka, calm and resolute. What was expected to be a lengthy pre-trial gun case, turned into a matter of fact, in and out procedure. The judge asked questions, Lil Wayne answered “yes sir” and “no sir,” then he and his entourage made off into the NYC streets via a four car SUV caravan.

The Young Money impresario pleaded guilty to attempted criminal posession from a two year old case, where he was said to have denied any connection to a loaded gun found on his tour bus.

Surprisingly, Wayne pleaded guilty to posession of a .40 calibur semiautomatic gun.

In copping a plea, the 27 year old rapper avoided a three and a half year sentence whereby he would have easily lost the momentum he’d built as one of hip hop’s most captivating personalities.

Due back in court on December 15, Wayne’s sentencing will be finalized in February of next year.

Lil Wayne Fights Gun Case In NY Courtroom Today

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.21, 2009, under KS NEWS

weekylegalLil Wayne is expected to continue the fight against allegations that a gun on his tour bus belonged to him when he enters a New York courtroom today.

Forensics experts will be on hand to determine whether or not low copy DNA profiling can be established in a court of law.

Low copy DNA is often used to identify suspects in criminal cases by identifying them with small portions of DNA.

The New Orleans born rapper denied possession of the gun when his tour bus was pulled over in 2007.

If the Young Money front man is in fact found guilty, he could face up to three and a half years in prison.
