Tip & Luda Drop $20 Gs To Help ATL Flood Victims
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Sep.30, 2009, under KS NEWS
They may not have always seen eye to eye, but both Ludacris and the self proclaimed King of the South, T.I., aren’t so visually impaired that they can’t see when the city they both call home, needs them.
In an effort of philanthropy, both rappers donated $10k to aid victims who were affected by the horrific storms in Atlanta just last week.
The damages were estimated at $60 million, left 10 people dead and devastated over 400 homes.
So as to expedite the process of recovery, The Ludacris Foundation teamed up with Home Depot and Sam’s Club. Additionally, Luda’s charity is planning a food drive and gift card giveaway.
Ludacris Gives Away 20 Cars To The Needy
by KS STAFF on Sep.10, 2009, under KS NEWS
As has become the custom in years past, Ludacris took over Atlanta this past Labor Day Weekend and among the parties and special events, his philanthropic efforts shone brightest. In an effort to help stimulate the community he was born from, Luda gave away 20 cars to deserving citizens of Atlanta.
Over 4,000 essays were submitted to his foundation at 300 words a pop and the winners were awarded based on necessity and obvious struggle.
”People are getting laid off, and now are looking for jobs,” Ludacris said. ”To be efficient, you need some transportation of your own to get there. That’s why I wanted to give back to those who need it.”
Among the most memorable essays Ludacris read was Mading Duor’s of Sudan. He basically lost his entire family five years ago before moving to Atlanta with his son and eventually lost him to a car accident involving a drunken driver.
“His story touched my heart,” said Ludacris. “He’s endured so much in his life and he’s still here standing. I’m very proud to have helped him.”
Ludacris Ghost Writes Detox Leak: “O.G.’s Theme”
by KS STAFF on Jul.14, 2009, under KS NEWS, SLAP
Another track from Dr. Dre’s infamous Detox album leaked over the weekend and with it the verses Ludacris wrote on behalf of the legendary West Coast producer (some sources are saying he wrote the whole album, but we think that’s bologna…).
Luda took to Twitter to respond to all the inquiries about the track, saying he didn’t know how it leaked and “it was fun trying” to be Dre for a day.
There’s no telling whether Detox will still have the track on it, but if history is any indication, Dre fans may have to wait another year or two…
Something tells us the Good Dr. won’t be too happy knowing we know Luda gave him an assist, but on some real shit, who the fuck cares? All we want is to hear the damn thing!!
For the love of Chronic Dre, don’t push the album back again! WE KNOW YOU CAN’T RAP!!!!! You’re a genius beat maker and that’s all we ever wanted you to be!
Ludacris To Launch Cognac In September
by KS STAFF on Jun.25, 2009, under KS NEWS
Rapper/actor and all around ‘entreprenegro’ Ludacris, recently announced that he will be developing a cognac this summer/fall since visiting a wine and spirits trade show in Bordeaux this week.
The $38 bottle cognac is expected to launch this July in Norway and will likely make its US debut in September.
Luda is said to be working with a Norwegian owned cognac producer Birkedal Hartman who’s responsible for a brand called Conjure.
A record label executive he may be, but Luda confirmed his level of interest by involving himself on a practical level.
“I went to Cognac and blended it myself from 14 different samples. It’s not just me attaching my name to it,” he explained. “Whenever I involve myself in a business, I submerge myself in it.
“I wanted to learn as much as possible. It was great. It gave me a new appreciation for cognac.”
