The Scope: Miguel | “All I Want Is You”
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Sep.01, 2010, under RYZE, VID E OZE
Thank God for streaming or we might have never heard this track. Just happened to tune in to KMEL one day and there it was. A perfect blend with some other R&B song of the moment (probably R.O.D. or some shit) and J. Cole swooped in.
I about pressed mute, ’cause I’m not really into dude like that, but then Miguel got to doing his thing. After about a minute more into the track I announced, “I like this shit.”
It’s a shame certain markets (Atlanta) are being deprived of music like this… at least on stations that don’t fall into the underground radio format. I can’t remember hearing it on V103 or 107.9, both of which claim to play the hottest shit out.
SPOTTED! Mya Harrison Posted By Poolside In A 2-Piece
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jul.26, 2010, under KANDY GIRLZ
Miss Mya Marie Harrison was spotted at the beach and by poolside in a two piece… and the biscuit is looking just right!
We think she may be in the midst of recording some music??? But does it really matter? When a chick looks like she does and has a little bit of talent, someone is always going to want something from her.
Case in point: “Dancing With The Stars”
She hasn’t been the king of “star” she was in a long time, but that fifteen minutes gave her another 24 hours and the set of pics below will give her another week.
The idea is, if you haven’t gotten this far into the read, she’s done her job of staying relevant. In other words, anyone seen Sisqo lately?
KS Exclusive: E-40 Talks Split From Warner, Independent’s Day
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jul.01, 2010, under CENTER PIECE, KS EXCLUSIVE
BOSSES WILL BOSS
WORDS: N. ALI EARLY
E-40’s been in the game a long damn time. He’s sold millions of albums, an anthem or three on every one; been major and taught most of your favorite rappers how to get down independently – by observation of course, cause we all know the game is to be sold, not told.
He’s a self made millionaire and an example of what to do & how to do it. He’s initiated an energy about slang that had never been seen or heard of before him – even in the Yay. He’s hands down the most charismatic rapper in Hip Hop and has more born swag than your favorite emcee could ever dream. He’s done laps around dozens of one hit wonders and is signed to his son’s label, whose beats he now spits over.
Still he wants more.
“It’s gon’ be a marathon, not a sprint,” says 40, confident and ready for his second turn at full independence. “I’m in it for the long run and it’s going to be nonstop.”
If it wasn’t for his departure from Warner Brothers, which proved to be a great short term fit with Lil Jon and Co., we might not know 40 still had it in him. But here he is; back in the thick of it, handlin’ his alongside the youngstas.
“It’s independent’s day,” he says with an obvious smile. “It’s like, fuck double platinum. I’m tryna go double profit. It ain’t about first week sales or none of that. When I was independent if I had sold 12,000 the first week, I was happy. And we just kept milkin’ it until it became 100,000 and from a 100,000 to 150,000. That’s why I say, ‘the grit don’t quit.’”
KSE | Tha Hip Hop Doc & Dee-1 Aim High With New Album

Tha Hip Hop Doc & Dee-1 Present: My Life Is In Your Hands
Since establishing themselves as a formidable rap duo in 2008 with the infectious group collabo, State of Emergency, Louisiana bred emcees H2D AKA “Tha Hip Hop Doc” and Dee-1 continue their mission sans the assistance of the Legion of Health. My Life Is In Your Hands, a decidedly more conscious and introspective stare into the lives of successive generations, provides Doc and Dee the opportunity to make good on a more personal community building initiative. Needless to say, they nail it by delivering inspiring rhymes over equally impressive beats.
A gift even, My Life Is In Your Hands, represents the lecture your son or daughter never knew was coming. Thankfully, it’s one that won’t fall on deaf ears given its platform, clever wordplay and contagious soul riffs. The message is simple, but not too overbearing. “If my life were in your hands, would you do right by me?”
Inclusive of strong choruses, lifelike skits and suggestive material, which offers how life’s pendulum might turn in an instance, “I’m Too Smart For That,” sets an untroubled tone that makes for easy listening… and learning. (continue reading…)
Doin’ Work: ‘The Touch’ DVD Cover
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jun.29, 2010, under WORK
This… right here… is my new Lambo…Well, not exactly. But if this flick does what it’s supposed to do, we might be movin’ on up to the East Side like The Jeffersons in the next year or so! LOL!!
Seriously, we’re new to the film business and it’s one hectic place. You gotta admire people that stay in it, especially behind the scenes.
So when we first took this project on it seemed pretty straightforward and simple. “Take an open field with a woman’s outstretched arms… use the sun and some other artificial light to kreate a glow that ‘touches’ her.”
Something like that.
Then it went from hope to despair. “The world is hopeful that things will get better, but there are so many people going through it right now. Let’s find a woman or an image that represents that.”
