Cee-Lo Unveils Video For ‘F*ck You!’
by KS STAFF on Sep.01, 2010, under SLAP, VID E OZE
If you’re anything like us, you’ve come to expect abstract from Cee-Lo Green and this track/video is no exception.
We kinda liked the word video, but were about as positive as two even numbers that it wasn’t going to last… especially after 50 Cent remixed the damn thing.
A throwback if you will – but you already knew that right? – Lo summons his inner Chubby Checker and Marty McFly simultaneously, tracing back the years all the way to his childhood. From middle school to his early years as an adult, seems like the Lady Killer got plenty motivation.
You won’t find Bria Myles or Rosa Acosta in this one, but it will more than likely entertain you… and isn’t that what a video is supposed to do?
The Scope: Miguel | “All I Want Is You”
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Sep.01, 2010, under RYZE, VID E OZE
Thank God for streaming or we might have never heard this track. Just happened to tune in to KMEL one day and there it was. A perfect blend with some other R&B song of the moment (probably R.O.D. or some shit) and J. Cole swooped in.
I about pressed mute, ’cause I’m not really into dude like that, but then Miguel got to doing his thing. After about a minute more into the track I announced, “I like this shit.”
It’s a shame certain markets (Atlanta) are being deprived of music like this… at least on stations that don’t fall into the underground radio format. I can’t remember hearing it on V103 or 107.9, both of which claim to play the hottest shit out.
Snoop & Game In Studio Bumpin’ ‘Trading Places’
by KS STAFF on Aug.30, 2010, under VID E OZE
This is a dark ass video, so dark we couldn’t rip an image from it. However, once you get through all the small talk and the engineer makes turns the track on, it’s worth it.
Irrespective of who Game may or may not think is being a big brother to him right now, Snoop has his full attention. It almost seems like Game is more excited about Snoops verse than his own.
Granted Calvin takes on the Piru persona – for purposes of the track – but Game is like a kid who just got his first Rubik’s Cube or some shit.
We get it homie. You’re excited Snoop is there with you. He’s your idol. You know all his songs… However, your job on your own track is to murder the verse no matter who’s there with you. Period.
Snoop & Rev. Sharpton Celebrate MJs Life
by KS STAFF on Aug.30, 2010, under VID E OZE
Michael Jackson’s birthday drew a number of celebrities out yesterday to celebrate the fallen icon’s birthday (August 29, 1958). Among them were activist Rev. Al Sharpton and West Coast veteran rapper Snoop Dogg, who both deferred to Jackson as an inspiration to music and people around the globe.
Spike Lee introduced Snoop, who took the stage, performed and fielded interviews to express his love for Mike.
“Michael Jackson, his music, his spirit represented love and peace around the whole world and it influenced me in what I do,” Snoop said. “So for me to come through, is just showing love and respect and just paying homage to a great artist who meant so much to music in general… and the people.”
Celebrating Aaliyah Dana Haughton (1979-2001)
by KS STAFF on Aug.25, 2010, under VID E OZE
It’s been a full nine years since Aaliyah Dana Haughton AKA “Baby Girl,” died tragically in a plane crash as she wrapped a video shoot in The Bahamas.
Gone but not forgotten, her influence only gets stronger. Her music was/is so transcendent, that male artists such as the Dream and Ne-Yo, have gone about doing tributes.
But that’s what Aaliyah was all about. She was “More Than A Woman” – the type that could crack the heart of the hardest thug and inspire younger versions of her to emerge in her absence.
Quite ubiquitous the shadow is hers, Aaliyah kreated a lane for like minded songbirds to follow. She helped redefine R&B by fusing hip hop, dance and heavy doses of swag into it, ultimately claiming the unadulterated title of R&B Princess.
