Cee-Lo Unveils Video For ‘F*ck You!’
by KS STAFF on Sep.01, 2010, under SLAP, VID E OZE
If you’re anything like us, you’ve come to expect abstract from Cee-Lo Green and this track/video is no exception.
We kinda liked the word video, but were about as positive as two even numbers that it wasn’t going to last… especially after 50 Cent remixed the damn thing.
A throwback if you will – but you already knew that right? – Lo summons his inner Chubby Checker and Marty McFly simultaneously, tracing back the years all the way to his childhood. From middle school to his early years as an adult, seems like the Lady Killer got plenty motivation.
You won’t find Bria Myles or Rosa Acosta in this one, but it will more than likely entertain you… and isn’t that what a video is supposed to do?
New SLAP | Pimp C ft. Drake & Bun | “What Up”
by KS STAFF on Aug.27, 2010, under SLAP
The Naked Soul of Sweet Jones is on the way and the first single features Young Money’s favorite hip pop personality. Bun B also checks in, effectively orchestrating a powerful introduction to what will effectively be Bun’s last official album release.
What we’re wondering is if Bun would have really worked with Drizzy. Remember he called out all the masculine deficient rappers he could before he passed and even dissed Jeezy at the height of his movement.
Not that we’re implying Drake likes boys or anything, but the chances of him and Pimp collaborating seem a little far fetched.
The Scope: Mahem & Killa Tay | “You Don’t Wanna Know Killa”
by KS STAFF on Aug.25, 2010, under SLAP, VID E OZE, WCW
We’ve had our eye in PIIMP (Put It In My Pocket) for awhile now and the OGs, Mahem & Killa Tay are two main reasons why. Their affiliate Gorilla Gang, is a beast in and of itself and the hustle is unparalleled for an indie label.
Had to do a little searching, but below you’ll find a double video for “You Don’t Wanna Know Killa” and “Paper Politicin,” directed by Gorilla Gang’s Big Ju.
Not to slight Tay or anything. Dude is a well respected rapper in the Bay and all, but Mahem’s impact takes this song from ordinary to spectacular in a few bars. His energy on “You Don’t Wanna…” alters the track immediately and his wordplay on “Paper Politicin” is equally impressive.
New SLAP | Willie Joe | “Focus”
by KS STAFF on Aug.25, 2010, under SLAP, VID E OZE, WCW
Not like he ever had to prove it to us. We’ve been known Willie Joe was a monster, but that was a benefit of having seen his movement materialize in the flesh.
Since moving back to the Bay, the Fresh Prince of Vallejo has done much to reclaim his throne and his viral campaign is easily among the best on the ‘Net (we still love you Teairra Mari!)
This latest joint, “Focus,” puts it all in perspective. After working his way from a gig at the airport to emerging as one of the most talked about underground emcees in Altanta, Joe’s promising career seemed poised to take off. Two failed record deals later, he’s all but faced with starting all over again – this time on his native soil.
New SLAP | Ne-Yo | “One In A Million”
by KS STAFF on Aug.24, 2010, under SLAP
No matter what you think about his off stage, out of the studio antics, you gotta respect Ne-Yo’s ability to deliver quality music.
Upon seeing the title “One In A Million,” the first thing that comes to mind is another trainwreck by another unsuspecting artist who was only trying to pay homage in the first place.
But the Compound CEO didn’t go that route. All he did was use the title and make a completely different song that will appeal to his target demo.
Dig the drum and scat inspired intro… It’s nothing that’s going to change the world, but it works for what it is and is 100 X better than this travesty.
