2Pac Would Have Been A Good Dad

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jun.17, 2010, under OLD SKOOL JEWEL, THROWBACK THURSDAYS, VID E OZE

dear mamaIt’s been rumored that 2pac fathered children prior to his untimely death. His penchant to deliver verses that referenced his desire to either plant a seed, or nurture one that was already here, didn’t do much to eliminate random theories either.

For example:

“I been really wantin’ babies, so I can see a part of me that wasn’t always shady/ don’t trust my lady/ Cause she’s a product of this poison ” (”So Many Tears)

&

“Somebody save me, Lost and crazy, Scared to drop a seed, Hopin’ I ain’t cursed my babies” (”Smile”)…

Both suggested Pac desperately wanted a child, but couldn’t stand to see his own offspring subjected to the vile world he had come to know. The idea that his son or daughter might inherit some of his detriments was too much to cope with, but was it too late?

Throwback Thursdays: Rob Base | “It Takes 2″ (Video)

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jan.21, 2010, under OLD SKOOL JEWEL, SLAP, THROWBACK THURSDAYS, VID E OZE

it takes 2

Unlike Snoop Dogg and the rest of the young thuggin’ generation, Rob Base took the “I Wanna Rock” pledge to heart. He actually got out there on the block with the rest of the hood and ‘rocked’ with his people.

Not to slight Snoop or his single, which is quickly turning into 2010s version of “A Milli” with recent additions from the likes of Jay Z and Luda (”King’s version) and Skillz? It bangs with a capital B (no offense Cuz).

But there was something about going to a house party back in the early ’90s, pushing up on that special someone, then gyrating until your body went limp, all because of this song.

It gave dudes a reason to gig and chicks a reason to shake what their Mama gave em.

And without further adieu…

OSJ | The Click | “Tired Of Being Stepped On”

by KS STAFF on Jun.25, 2009, under OLD SKOOL JEWEL, SLAP, THROWBACK THURSDAYS, VID E OZE

It’s Throwback Thursday and we found another Old Skool Jewel for you! If you’ve never heard this song, you should have, so scroll down and press play. If you’re already up on it, go head and get a little nostalgic with us!

Arguably their most politically sound track as a group, The Click – comprised of family members E-40, B-Legit, D-Shot and Suga T – came raw with this one.

“Tired Of Being Stepped On” represents the struggle candidly and appropriately for the man who just can’t seem to get things right. The battle tested soldier from the streets who no one will hire, his choices are limited and as a result, misery finds him in the form of prison, the block or death.

The ex-cons, the D- Boys, the unemployed, this track embodies the reality of overcoming the trials and tribulations that life serves up every so often.

Stay strong Black Man!

Man, my mother is disabled/ ain’t got no food on the table/ all I can afford is noodles with the generic label…

This goes on for about a week and a half/ I need to think fast/ I need some cash/ lemme water my grass and make it greener…
