Amare Stoudemire mixed things up today in the most talked about free agency summer ever when he and the New York Knicks agreed to terms over a five year deal in which he would earn upwards of $99.7 million.

The Knicks still have their eyes on the two most sought after free agents of the summer in Dwyane Wade and Lebron James. The understanding and hope is that landing Stoudemire will work to lure one of the “Big 3″ (James, Wade, Chris Bosh) and effectively position them as a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference for years to come.

If James was married to the idea of playing with Bosh in New York, he can forgettaboutit now. Sources however, revealed today, that James likely knew about the potential deal, as the marquee players have been communicating throughout the process. (continue reading…)
