OSJ | The Click | “Tired Of Being Stepped On”
by KS STAFF on Jun.25, 2009, under OLD SKOOL JEWEL, SLAP, THROWBACK THURSDAYS, VID E OZE
It’s Throwback Thursday and we found another Old Skool Jewel for you! If you’ve never heard this song, you should have, so scroll down and press play. If you’re already up on it, go head and get a little nostalgic with us!
Arguably their most politically sound track as a group, The Click – comprised of family members E-40, B-Legit, D-Shot and Suga T – came raw with this one.
“Tired Of Being Stepped On” represents the struggle candidly and appropriately for the man who just can’t seem to get things right. The battle tested soldier from the streets who no one will hire, his choices are limited and as a result, misery finds him in the form of prison, the block or death.
The ex-cons, the D- Boys, the unemployed, this track embodies the reality of overcoming the trials and tribulations that life serves up every so often.
Stay strong Black Man!
Man, my mother is disabled/ ain’t got no food on the table/ all I can afford is noodles with the generic label…
This goes on for about a week and a half/ I need to think fast/ I need some cash/ lemme water my grass and make it greener…
SLAP | E-40 | “Sprinkle Me”
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.09, 2008, under SLAP, VID E OZE
Too Short’s induction into the VH1 Hip Hop Honors family this past week is a pretty good indication that E-40 will follow in a year or two. No matter how much game they stole and how often they hated, rappers and critics alike all got a little bit of 40 Water in them along the way – whether they wanna admit it or not. This song, is ONE reason why.
As he puts the finishing touches on his 11th album, The Ball Street Journal, we thought it fitting to take it back to the early 90s – the Bay Area’s glory days – to truly appreciate the catalogue this brutha has assembled.
Kickin’ on back wit tha Hennessy/ 40 Wata wata would ya sprinkle me?

SLAP | San Quinn | “Northern California”
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.08, 2008, under SLAP
THROWBACK THURSDAYS
Not like it was all that damn long ago when this song dropped… heard it out in Georgia thanks to the homie DJ Juice, who always makes sure we stay laced with Bay SLAP. If you fuck with the Bay this song puts it all together. A history lesson if you will, Quinn speaks on every era from the mid ’80s when it first started crankin’ in the Yay. If you’re from the Bay, nostalgia is sure to catch you up. From Hammer’s glory days to the Too Short/Luniz feud, Mac Dre & 2pac eras; it’s all that and a fat ass burrito!! Yadada?!

In related news, San Quinn’s heavily anticipated From A Boy To A Man is finally set for a November 25th release on Northern California based SMC Records.
“Quinn went in and gave them what they wanted – that honesty, that reality that people are dealing with everyday,” said SMC Co Founder Wil Bronson. “The dopest thing is, when we approached producers about doing the album, they we’re just as excited as us and you can hear it in the songs.”
