Daz Dillinger To Remix Death Row With Former Label Associate
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Aug.05, 2009, under KS NEWS, WCW
The label that Suge Knight and Dr. Dre made famous has had its fair share of name changes over the years – Tha Row, The New Death Row (whatever the hell Wide Awake Entertainment had in mind) and others among them – but none have ever stuck in the minds of old fans and even newer artists.
Daz Dillinger, one of the infamous West Coast label’s most notable former artists and eventual executive, hopes to change that perception with his newest venture, Neu-Ro Records.
Along with Ron Winter, a former Death Row associate and thriving entrepreneur, Daz plans on executing from overseas in the Uk initially and has confirmed distribution backing from Universal Records.
“I could not pass up an opportunity to continue the success of the Death Row’s operations after Suge withdrew and the catalog fell into hands of banker types,” Winter told All Hip Hop.
In addition to introducing new and old music from his former labelmates, Daz and Winter are decided on develping a children’s book as well as a documentary entitled, That Was Then – This Is Now.

Beyonce Track Emerges In Death Row Sale
by KS STAFF on Mar.17, 2009, under KS NEWS

An unreleased Beyonce track is reportedly among the 10,000 songs that were acquired in the auction of Deathrow Records earlier this year.
Death Row was auctioned off for $18 million to WIDEawake Entertainment Group in January.
The initial reports of the auction only mentioned that unreleased tracks by former Death Row artists including 2Pac and Dr. Dre were acquired but Wideawake’s John Payne recently revealed to Reuters that a Beyonce track was also picked up.
Payne, who was a producer/engineer for Death Row, serves as the senior vice president for WIDEawake Entertainment.
Payne revealed that he has reached out to Beyonce and other artists whose songs were acquired to work out appropriate contracts.
“There’s so much exquisite material that never saw the light of day,” Payne said. “These are artists that would love to see their material released, and I’m sure they want to get paid for what they’ve done.”
Payne also revealed that he has been working with 2Pac’s family to drop 13 of the rapper’s unreleased 40 songs they acquired. They are also working on song placements and synch deals with MTV and other TV and film companies.
WIDEawake are also developing a film about singer Marvin Gaye and a graphic novel that will involve the Death Row catalogue.
Suge Knight, the founder of Death Row Records, lost control of the label after filing for bankruptcy in 2006.

According to previous reports, the couple argued in the car before losing control and ultimately, the former Death Row Records head honcho stood over her with a knife as police officers arrived.
More on this as details develop.

A day after the Associated Press reported that Suge Knight was arrested and formally charged for assault on his unidentified girlfriend, he is out on $19,000 bail.
Only yesterday it was reported that Knight battered his significant other and stood over her with a knife in his hand as police officers arrived. Police claimed that the vicious attack began in the vehicle and they were only alerted of the assault because bystanders called them after they watched the car careen on and off the curb.
