‘Under Pressure’ Proves The Universe Needs Detox
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Jun.22, 2010, under SLAP, THE EARLY EFFECT
Within the first bar of “Under Pressure,” Dr. Dre addresses the cynicism that has surrounded this project for the past… 9 years?
The long awaited Detox trick/ maybe I don’t wanna stop/ maybe I don’t wanna quit…
And with that he effectively announced his return to the world of album sales. Because that’s what he’s going to get.
Even during a recession where record companies have fallen off as fast as Roy Jones Jr.’s legacy, Detox is going to rise to the occasion and show you how young Lil Wayne’s money is… More importantly, Detox is going to work to repair an industry suffocating from listless talent and fast music, formulated for the now opposed to forever.
Scott Storch Promises Detox Is On The Way
by KS STAFF on May.26, 2010, under VID E OZE, WCW
Wanna know why none of your favorite artists never made it on Aftermath? It may have had something to do with Scott Storch not working on their album.
Storch and Dre. Dre’s chemistry is so on point, says the award winning producer, that Dre requested his assistance on Detox above anyone else’s. And who are we to argue? They made some beautiful music… what year was that again?
“Dre and I just vibe off of each other,” he says. “Sometimes things don’t even have to be said. We just kind of know what each other are thinking.”
Nah, seriously, Storch made the best of his time while in LA, dropping DJ Skee’s spot and the two talked about the album, their relationship and how soon you might expect to hear some new D.R.E.
Dre & Jimmy Talk Beats, Detox
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Apr.06, 2010, under VID E OZE
Yeah, you probably thought you weren’t going to buy a $300 pair of headphones until you heard Jimmy Iovine break it down like sandwiches.
During this interview with some reporter from MSNBC, you start to realize why Dr. Dre spends so much time with dude. Not that The Good Dr. can’t speak for himself, but Iovine cuts the checks and negotiates life altering deals for a reason.
Think about it. Listening to your $300.00 ipod through a pair of ear buds is something like “getting the Avatar movie and watching it through a portable TV.”
Now are you going to cheat yourself out of the best sounding quality available? Or will you bump Detox (which Dre says is dropping this year in this interview) in your Beats By Dre headphones just like Kobe and Lebron?
Dr. Dre Introduces HP Beats Audio
by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Mar.12, 2010, under VID E OZE
On the surface this appears to be another reason why Dr. Dre won’t ever release Detox and it probably is.
All the testimonies from his friends and understudies are comforting, but dude is seriously raking in cake with the headphones and now this.
According to this commercial, HP Beats Audio was built specifically with Dre and his music in mind.
“We tore the computer apart so my music sounds like it’s supposed to,” he says.
On the good foot, Stat Quo earns a cameo and they are in the studio, so who knows… He could be moonlighting one way or the other.
Andre Young Promotes Headphones, Dr. Dre Fields Detox Questions
by KS STAFF on Nov.22, 2009, under KS NEWS, VID E OZE
Dr. Dre recently inked a deal with Best Buy to promote and sell his Beats By Dre headphones in select markets across the country and stopped in New York’s Union Square location to discuss his futuristic product with the public.
Unfortunately for him, people would care more about the BBD if they could bump a new Dr. Dre album on them and one curious reporter moved to inquire about the heavily anticipated project known to the public as Detox.
The legendary producer fielded the question, providing a short answer that has to have been calculated time and time again. Hopefully this new venture with Best Buy might increase the pressure to deliver a real release date.
“You know what, I’m workin’ hard on it man,” Dre disclosed. “I’m going and I’m stopping… I’m working on other artists in between and what have you. But, I”m working hard on it and the minute it’s done and I feel it right here (points to chest), when it feels right to me? That’s when it’ll come out. Hopefully in the beginning of the year.”
