Dr. Dre Introduces HP Beats Audio

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Mar.12, 2010, under VID E OZE

hpbeatsOn the surface this appears to be another reason why Dr. Dre won’t ever release Detox and it probably is.

All the testimonies from his friends and understudies are comforting, but dude is seriously raking in cake with the headphones and now this.

According to this commercial, HP Beats Audio was built specifically with Dre and his music in mind.

“We tore the computer apart so my music sounds like it’s supposed to,” he says.

On the good foot, Stat Quo earns a cameo and they are in the studio, so who knows… He could be moonlighting one way or the other.

Andre Young Promotes Headphones, Dr. Dre Fields Detox Questions

by KS STAFF on Nov.22, 2009, under KS NEWS, VID E OZE

sdlkfwdlkfncwsldnvclksdncDr. Dre recently inked a deal with Best Buy to promote and sell his Beats By Dre headphones in select markets across the country and stopped in New York’s Union Square location to discuss his futuristic product with the public.

Unfortunately for him, people would care more about the BBD if they could bump a new Dr. Dre album on them and one curious reporter moved to inquire about the heavily anticipated project known to the public as Detox.

The legendary producer fielded the question, providing a short answer that has to have been calculated time and time again. Hopefully this new venture with Best Buy might increase the pressure to deliver a real release date.

“You know what, I’m workin’ hard on it man,” Dre disclosed. “I’m going and I’m stopping… I’m working on other artists in between and what have you. But, I”m working hard on it and the minute it’s done and I feel it right here (points to chest), when it feels right to me? That’s when it’ll come out. Hopefully in the beginning of the year.”

50 Cent Unwilling To Work With Game, Even For Dre

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Nov.16, 2009, under KS NEWS

50-cent-the-game-wallpaper-900x675Game may have mended the fences with Dr. Dre, but scaling the wall known as 50 Cent is a feat that may not ever happen.

MTV caught up with the G-Unit impresario to discuss his participation on the heavily anticipated Detox album, Dre’s follow up to Chronic 2001 and among the topics they discussed was whether he would collaborate with the Compton emcee on the project.

“No, I wouldn’t do it. I’d be on a record, on a song, on the [Detox] album, but not on that record [with Game]. That’s not making a song, that’s making an event — things for people to talk about,” 50 told MTV. “So there’s a verse there that you think would be great for both of us, I just say, ‘Erase his verse and put something in better than that.’”

After the unfortunate death of fallen pop icon Michael Jackson, Game also shared an exclusive with MTV where he apologized to 50 Cent, Dre and Jimmy Iovine for his role in breaking down their lines of communication. Game was eventually ousted from G-Unit as an official member.

50’s fourth solo effort, Before I Self Destruct, is available in stores tomorrow.

Dr. Dre Wants More From Jay Z

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.14, 2009, under KS NEWS, WCW

DrDre-DetoxStudy long, you study wrong… I know, I know. I may sound crazy to all of you devout Roc fans, but the truth is, I don’t really give a fuck. My issue with Dr. Dre’s “heavily anticipated-damn near never gonna come out” album Detox is, he seems to be going away from what made it a classic series in the first place.

The original Chronic was chock full of artists you’d never heard of, but by the time you finished listening to it, you were eagerly anticipating their albums too. RBX, The Lady of Rage, Dogg Pound, etc. it was perhaps the most explosive musical platform we’d ever absorbed… and it was all West Coast.

Now, granted, The Lady of Rage is from VA and Kurupt claimed Philly too, but they bought in. The Chronic is and will always be considered, a WEST COAST CLASSIC. Then, nine years later they did it all over again with 2001.

I suppose when you make the decision to DETOX, you do away with all that has made you what you are and I’m just not ready to see the product that Dr. Dre (and Death Row) built, dissipate into some commercialized, ‘we are the world’ rap collaboration.

This all stems from a brief interview Dre did with MTV where he asked the Brooklyn native to “come holla.” On paper it’s a good look I guess. Dre is the undisputed best at what he does and many consider Jay Z rap’s leading man. And that’s where it should stay. He’s already writing on the project. What true West Coast die hard wants to hear him on a Chronic record?

On top of that, Nas and R. Kelly are rumored to appear on the project. AND Lil Wayne, Drake and T.I. are supposed ghost writers.

Maybe I’m hating, but after all this time, I don’t wanna hear all that shit.
