Iron Mike On Jimmy Kimmel (Video Clip)

by KS STAFF on May.18, 2009, under KS NEWS, VID E OZE

Imagine Mike Tyson with a face full of hearts… As odd as it may sound, Iron Mike was a suggestion away from plastering his mug with an array of love over his eye that now bears a tribal symbol. Can’t say his ultimate decision is at all flattering, but at least it seems to match his personality.

He also talks at length about biting Evander Holyfield’s ears and how this is the first time in his life he’s taken it upon himself to be fully responsible for his actions. No handlers, no hangers on, just Mike. Never too late to grow up!

Baron Davis Takes Crips & Bloods To Congress

by KS STAFF on May.08, 2009, under KS NEWS

Los Angeles Clippers All-Star Guard Baron Davis’ season may not have played out the way he intended it to, but that did nothing to stop him from attempting to make a difference in the community as the producer of Crips & Bloods: Made In America. In fact, instead of taking in a playoff game at Staples Center, he extended his philanthropic efforts to Washington D.C., where he and others screened the straight to DVD film for Congress.

Along with QDIII, the architect of the Beef documentary series and documentary filmmaker Stacy Peralta, Davis sought to paint a picture of a people that have been tormented relentlessly with little to no aid or assistance.

The GAME and Baron Davis

“If this kind violence were happening in the Pacific Palisades or Beverly Hills, you can believe the resources necessary to change things would have been brought fourth,” Davis told Hip Hop DX earlier this week. “But it’s almost as if because its in the inner-city, the cycle is allowed to persist. It’s my sincere hope that this film will bring awareness to the problems, and shows members of Congress what is really needed to make a change”

Davis went on to speak about the optimism hip hop provides and urged the community therein to continue the course so that others might one day visualize the same opportunities. He continued to stress however, it will take a collected effort for things to change indefinitely.

“If there is one thing I’ve learned through the process of making this film and through the course of my life is that we have to stay committed to the change we want for ourselves and our communities. Change does not happen overnight, especially when you’re trying to undo years of problems. But we must practice what we preach, and all work hard to make improvements within ourselves and for the community around us.”

Davis collaborated with DJ Don Cannon and DJ Skee to present an all-star studded mixtape along with the film. A plethora of rappers including Lil Wayne, David Banner, Snoop Dogg and Kurupt are featured.

Crips & Bloods: Made In America is available for purchase @ Neoflix.
