Okay all you tech heads, Blackberry recently released a newer version of Blackberry Messenger and it has all sorts of features the older version didn’t… and some other IM services don’t either. Check out the details below.

The new Blackberry Messenger includes:

Avatar Support – allows the user to set a customized avatar using the camera or saved photos on your device

GPS location integration – set permissions so friends can always see your location, have to request it each time they attempt to access you, or never allow them to see it at all

Proximity Sensor – alerts user as to whether he/she is within a certain distance of friends

Set Conversation Subjects – allows the user to organize convos on the main messenger screen and label them with subjects to keep track of all conversations

Homescreen Support – pin/sticky actual Messenger contacts directly to the homescreen for easy access
