Since the release of MTVs Michael Jackson commercial and announcement of a pending performance from his little sister Janet, the anticipation of a set where she and others paid homage to him has grew by the hour and minute up until a collective body of dancers hit the stage.

Needless to say, they did not dissapoint, moving with pinpoint precision and in usison with MJ via a projector that kept them honest.

Janet topped the tribute off with a dazzling performance of “Scream” – a historic video she and MJ pulled off together in 1995.

Depending on who you ask, Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson have been on the rocks for some time now. He likes to kick it to the strip club, guest dj whenever he hits the hot spots and she would prefer to chill like the 43 year old she is and keep her personal relationship out of the public’s eye.

They realized, along with the rest of the music world that the business/personal relationship they were in search of wasn’t going to work shortly after her album went wood. Additionally, she’s mourning the loss of her brother, whose star studded sendoff JD was noticably absent from.

One source says he simply doesn’t attend funerals and another says he knew this day was coming. In any scenario, it seems the “idea” of JD – a known commodity and super producer -and Janet – pop icon and feminine goddess to little girls and grown women alike – just never truly panned out.

“You shouldn’t mix business with pleasure,” a mutual friend explains. “Janet felt their lives were too crossed and they should have kept things sepa­rate.”

Damn…seems like the lil homie should have known that before he went and got Miss Jackson plastered on his ribs.

You all remember the scene from Baby Boy when Jody told Taraje’s character she was his ‘ribs?’ If not, know that the symbolism comes from the Bible and the Virgin Mary, who in essence represents man’s spiritual savior.

In this case, Dupri put a little twist on the image replacing Mary with his girlfriend of seven years. Add a Jedi robe and you have a brand new tattoo on your right rib cage that ‘hurt like hell.’ Don’t believe us, JD confirmed it.

“This is the longest I have ever sat for a tat. I had to take 100 breaks ’cause that shit hurt like hell,” said Dupri.

Janet Jackson recently revealed more information about her strained relationship with Def Jam, citing singer Sade as the source of the problem. In essence, the label was more or less insisting she convert her musical exploits to suit her older, more mature fans and deliver an album that complimented her age rather than her spirit.

“They wanted me to sound more like Sade,” Janet reportedly said. “I’m not ready for that just yet. I love doing dance songs and I think my fans expect that of me.”

Since cancelling her tour over repeated hiccups due to a medical condition she was unaware of for months, Miss Jackson is currently considering a deal with Live Nation. She recently told Sister 2 Sister Magazine she is concentrating more on behind the scenes work with film and television.

Since cancelling nine concerts due to an undisclosed illness, Janet Jackson fans across the globe have moved to speculate that she was either pregnant or an incessant no show due to poor ticket sales. E! Online reports that neither of the two is the case.

In fact, she has been diagnosed with a rare migraine condition similar to vertigo. she hoped to return to her Rock Witchu Tour this evening in Washington D.C., but will more than likely miss it as well. (continue reading…)
