So I was sitting on the couch the other day talking hoop and all with the homies and the subject of the Cleveland Cavaliers came up. “King James” they call him… but I can’t see myself doing it. The idea that the League (and society at large) would push someone to the point of Biblical proportions is insane and even taboo… imho.

So I deferred to this dynamic that helps me put the whole Lebron James brand in perspective and it’s called COMMERCIAL RADIO.

Most of us are consumed by it daily. It wakes us up in the morning, pounding every corner of our listening membrane with extreme monotony and redundancy.

Still, we listen.

PDs shove it down our collective throats 24/7 and because most of us are sheep, we swallow like the girls in Trey Songz video. Case in point, we allow our ears to be bombarded by songs we wouldn’t ordinarily listen to because??? Well, let the powers that be – the GMs, the jocks, the djs, etc. – tell it, there’s nothing else to listen to.

The hype over Lebron James’ documentary More Than A Game has grown much like his celebrated arrival to the League in October of 2003 and has unsurprisingly heightened with the recent announcement of a soundtrack that will accompany the film. A portrayal of his life as a pseudo-celebrity high school basketball star, More Than A Game, also includes his teammates, coaches and other significant people who helped him become the man/player he is today.

In retrospect, his accomplishments since becoming the next best thing in the NBA (besides Kobe), have afforded him relationships with the likes of Jay Z, T.I., Drake and Lil Wayne, all of which are either featured or have solo tracks.

The top video is the best angle and it wasn’t as bad as it was made out to be… However, The KIng (with no rings) STILL got dunked on by a college sophomore!!! Anyway you slice it, FAIL!!

People will try and defend dude, say he was out of the play and he got there late, but the simple truth is, he jumped and got bapped on!

Nike should have just let the tape surface in the first place and Lebron should have come out and gave dude his props. He just made himself look like more of a LOSER by imagining in this day and age no one in the building had a camera rolling… thinking it was going to be his and NIke’s little secret for the rest of his chipless career. LOL!!

Kobe Bryant took part in a little extra curricular activity during his basketball camp when he played a 14 year old in a game of 1 on 1. Unsurprisingly, he took the kid 5-0 and after the game there was a little banter.

The kid appears to offer that had Bryant played him at Lebron’s camp there would have  been a different outcome and Bryant responds by saying: “I’ll tell you one thing. You ain’t dunkin’ on me at my camp!”

His comment stems from a story last week that has already become somewhat of a legend. Lebron James was playing pickup at his own camp when a sophomore from Xavier dunked on him.

Players and coaches were quoted as saying it was “bad,” among other things, but no one will ever know how bad, as Lebron had camp officials confiscate the tape.

Kobe finally made it back home and is still in celebration mode. Purple and gold confetti falls from up above as he soaks in the moment of winning his fourth “chamyunship ring.” Meanwhile, a somber Lebron, who’s been pumping iron, babysitting Lil Dez and visualizing 2010, still can’t believe it’s not him parading around the house in victory!!
