Afeni Shakur, the mother of fallen rap icon Tupac Shakur, was reportedly arrested on drug charges a little over a week ago.

The 63 year old former Black Panther is slated to appear in a North Carolina courtroom next month to face felony possession of marijuana, simple possession of a controlled substance and maintaining a vehicle, dwelling or place for a controlled substance.

Authorities disclosed Afeni was released on $10,000 bail and is expected to appear in court on May 10, 2010.

While they always seemed to have a healthy releationship as mother and son, there’s no doubt 2pac was affected by Afeni’s past as a user. In fact, in one of his most passionate moments – “Dear Mama” – the charismatic rapper disclosed her affliction and forgave her all at once.

To the day, Afeni continues her son’s legacy with the Tupac Amaru Foundation, which is geared toward assisting children with a passion for performing arts.

She admits to doing drugs with him, including powdered cocaine, marijuana and base rocks, AKA crack cocaine. Houston does clarify that she did not free base through a pipe, but did lace the weed with rocks.

According to TMZ, Joseph “JoJo” Simmons was charged with possession of marijuana, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest late last night. He is said to have made the purchase in plain view of the officers who eventually detained him and allegedly rolled a blunt in his car on Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Upon discovering the police were on to him, Simmons threw his vehicle into reverse attempting to escape, nearly crashing into an officer patrol car.

Simmons is the son of hip hop legend Joseph Simmons AKA “Run” of Run DMC and is a reality television regular on MTVs highly acclaimed Run’s House.

Tia Shorts, former Maryland beauty queen, was arrested and charged on posession of cocaine and marijuana yesterday. She and her boyfriend, who authorities were casing outside of Shorts’ Germantown home, were apparently distributing large amounts of several different kinds of drugs, including heroine.

When Shorts’ boyfriend was apprehended, he had large amounts of drugs, money and guns in his posession.

Shorts was released on $10,000 bail.

Despite recent reports that the rapper is so broke that his 2008 Lincoln Navigator was repossessed to pay back taxes, Method Man insists his cash flow is just fine.

In fact, he says, his penchant for marijuana is to blame for the mishap.

Citing the Wu Tang member for being $52,503 in arrears on his personal income taxes, the state Department of Taxation showed up at the Staten Island native’s home at 6 a.m. March 19 with “four NYPD cops and the repo team,” Meth told us. “I knew why they were there. It wasn’t like ‘Oh my God! Noo!! Don’t take it!’ like it is on that TV show [Operation Repo].
