At least that’s what her cousin says. One of many subjects to discuss the media giant’s successful pursuit of the American Dream (and then some) in an unauthorized tell all bio, Katharine Carr Esters seemed the perfect candidate to offer insight into Winfrey’s humble beginnings.

In drafting the new title though, gossip queen Kitty Kelley found that Oprah’s story was a bit skewed to generate common interest, per Esters, O’s blood cousin.

“Where Oprah got that nonsense about growing up in filth and roaches I have no idea,” Esters disclosed. “I’ve confronted her and asked, ‘Why do you tell such lies?’ Oprah told me ‘That’s what people want to hear. The truth is boring.’”

Kelley offered more details in an exclusive with EW.com, touching on more of her dialogue with Esters, who flat out called Oprah a liar.

It really amazes me sometimes to own the idea of being a member of the working media… that I’m bunched into this really classless group of “professionals” that makes a habit of serving up pretentious headlines for a buck… or… a click?

I’ve been trying to avoid commenting on the Chris Brown/ Oprah Winfrey melodrama, ignored it as long as it’s been an issue, but after reading the latest installment, I felt the need to weigh in. I went to this site that I frequent and the title of the highest prioritized story read, “Shots Fired!! Oprah Gets Back At Breezy!!” or some stupid shit like that. Like… for real?

Am I supposed to believe a media giant like Oprah Winfrey is honestly quarreling with Chris Brown? I mean, I don’t give a damn what he said or did, she has better things to do than play ping pong with him.

So the truth of the matter is, she was interviewed by Access Hollywood and they asked her about his reaction to the show she did in the aftermath of his and Rihanna’s heavily publicized feud. Seems he was a little peeved that she didn’t side with him after he flew to Africa to perform for her school girls.
