We were looking for an image of a girl and a guy, per the request of our client. We obviously didn’t find one we liked.

But they were happy at the end of the day, which is all that matters. What made us ecstatic is we got to use a new picture of DJ Hector. Yaaaay!!! Nothing against the old one Hec, but the upgrade is always a good thing. Ask Jay Z.

One snag when we got to the finish line though. Fancy was originally decked out in red. However, for some reason when you upload red on black to an email program, it bleeds.

Fresh off a rollercoaster ride with the Black Wallstreet and into a new deal with Akon’s Konvict Music, San Francisco mainstay Ya Boy is more than ready.

For purposes of this post, however, that’s the name of his new joint. It features glimpses of the More Than A Game documentary starring the NBAs most recent back to back Most Valuable Player Lebron James.

A little outside the norm for your normal Yay Area artist, but that’s probably why in the hell he made it all the way to Atlanta and cinched the deal in the first place.

If anything, it shows Ya Boy’s dexterity as an artist. He’s undoubtedly one of the Bay’s most overlooked and slept on artists. 2010 looks like it might be shaping out as his well deserved breakout year.

All we could think of when this came over was the fact that NBA Jam is back!

That’s why “He’s on Fiiire!!!”

Seriously, the look materialized kind of organically. The wooden floors make sense for obvious reasons. Then, the smoke and flames just made more sense.

It wasn’t one of those pieces where we had to go back and forth a whole lot, although we were originally asked to incorporate the venue…

So we took a chance, blamed it on the memory and thankfully it went over well.

Check it out if you’re in the city… There’s gonna be ballers there and stuff.

The initial request for this flyer was a sexy “mixed” couple and our first thought was to scour our image wells in search of two lovebirds that fit the bill.

But then we got to thinking… what exactly is a “mixed” couple?

Is it a Black man and a white woman or vice versa? An Indian and a Latino? A mixture of all those or more on either side?

So, ultimately we decided on going with something no one could actually figure out upon first glance. Started off with a green hue, but our client wanted something “brighter…”

Shot em the red and got the proverbial, “You nailed it!” reply.

It’s a monthly in The City (San Francisco), so fall through if you’re out that way and tell ‘em your weople @ KS sent you!

If you’ve been following us (here, not on Twitter), you know we’ve been playing around with this 3D effect for the past few months.

Our client likes it and while we never really thought of incorporating it into our work as often as we do now, it’s a good look. Don’t you think?

The more we play with it, the more we like it… and the more we like it, the better it will get.
