U.S. District Judge Jeremy Fogel found reason to demand MC Hammer, whose government name is Stanley Burrell, to pay a default judgment in a case from 2003.

The ruling was made in San Jose, California and ironically, it was the name on the summons that triggered the mishap, says the multi-platinum selling rap artist.

When he was originally slated to make an appearance in court to either clear his name or fess up, Hammer reasoned there must have been some mistake, as his last name was misspelled “Berrell” on the complaint and summons.
