The Nappy Headz Go Bad On T Pain

by KS STAFF on Dec.09, 2009, under KS NEWS, VID E OZE

nappyheadz_groupSince Jay Z’s now infamous recall of the autotune trend, T Pain has been somewhat of an easy target and unfortunately for him, the chickens have literally come home to roost.

A one time member of the Nappyheadz, a largely popular group from Tallahassee, Florida (Pain’s place of origin), T Pain apparently left them out to dry once opportunity came knocking at his door.

Various members of Nappy Heads have pieced together clips from their glory days in an effort to expose their former friend and band member for what he truly is. Captured in an upcoming DVD entitled The Untold Story: Nappy Headz, Pain is accused of breaking a pact that was thought to be bound forever.

“We come in the studio to do work as a group, but he didn’t wanna do nothing,” says one member. “The next day we come back in the studio, he got 2 and 3 songs by himself.”

T-Pain Is Turning Into A Big Ass Joke

by PAPERBOI PIMPEN on Oct.15, 2009, under THE EARLY EFFECT, VID E OZE

t-pains-big-ass-chainT-Pain is turning into one big ass joke. During the course of one day, Lil Wayne came to his defense (well, it’s actually an interview that’s been sifting out to the Internets part by part), as did Interscope’s newest mogul producer.

Then, to top it all off, we went and found some footage of his asshole arriving to a party in a hearse with select T-Pain signature items (including his big ass top hat and chain) in a coffin, simulating his death, while bumping Jay-Z’s “Death Of Autotune…” so the deejay inside could hear him pull up through his own headphones.

The idea that he thinks enough of the track to reason his own fall and/or failure, is a little pathetic. Why not just go and make a hot song to prove how viable you really are? Instead, this jerk attempts to make a joke out of it, weeks after he embarrassed himself with a wack ass apology (record), due to his misstep in Vegas.

Truth is, no one but you cares about your success and/or failure T-Pain. Buck up homie… or find a cave and dwell in it until you run out of vocoder royalties!!

T Pain Dissed Jay Z Then Took It Back?

by KS STAFF on Sep.10, 2009, under THE EARLY EFFECT

tpain-jayzA picture is worth a thousand words and well, this inset is indicative of the relationship T Pain and Jay Z once had. There he was… a gimmick artist who’d found his way to the top by using his magnanimous personality to forge relationships with the industry’s finest. Sure he had a little help by way of the vocoder, aka “auto-tune,” but a nation of music fans had accepted him and more importantly, he was considered by many, the new pioneer of digitally enhanced voice over performances (Roger Troutman is the true king).

Ironically, on the fateful day Jay Z decided enough was enough, T Pain was on stage with him as he performed “D.O.A.”(Death Of Auto Tune) in front of a raucous NY crowd. It was a call to every artist to step their game up and step away from a fad that was all but killing hip hop. Most importantly, when he denounced the movement, Jigga reasoned, “Ya T-Painin’ too much…”

Was it a diss or was he giving dude his props? Most would agree that he was supporting T Pain as the leader of a movement that had played its course, but wasn’t necessarily saying he should stop too.

“Freaknik Is Back” On Adult Swim (Trailer)

by KS STAFF on May.25, 2009, under VID E OZE

Just when you thought it was safe to put the coons to bed, Adult Swim is set to release another series exploiting hip hop culture. Honestly, we did it to ourselves, but was it necessary to bring it back like this?

T-Pain (what a frickin’ surprise) leads the charge as “The Ghost of Freaknik Past” with a spirited verse that combines the unruly activity of the event, along with exploited characters that revel in its existence.

“Freaknik is Back” premiers this fall.
